Best 3-A high school baseball team in the east? We now have an answer. It's Topsail High School. The Pirates now get to set their sights on a state championship next week. Two local soccer squads both lost in overtime in the state playoffs on Tuesday night. The Topsail baseball team managed to avoid defeat though. Topsail is now just one victory away from being in the state championship series next week. Full story...

The baseball season ended on Friday night for UNCW. Only two teams remain alive in the quest for a CAA Baseball Championship: William & Mary and the College of Charleston. The Wilmington Hammerheads erupted with five goals on Friday night at Legion Stadium. In the state playoffs Topsail and Whiteville both advance in the baseball state playoffs on Friday.
