Gov. McCrory orders lowering of flags to honor Marines killed in Nevada

Governor Pat McCrory ordered United States and North Carolina flags to be lowered from sunrise to sunset on April 23 on state facilities in honor of the seven U.S. Marines who were killed, and those wounded, as part of a training exercise on March 18, 2013, at Nevada’s Hawthorne Army Depot.

HAPPENING TODAY: Camp Lejeune Marines ride to combat alcohol abuse

Camp Lejeune and North Carolina coastal communities are joining forces for a motorcycle ride to combat alcohol abuse. Marines from the region are partnering with the Coastal Coalition for Substance Abuse Prevention in an attempt to reduce alcohol related deaths and injuries.
