videoA man convicted twice for second degree murder is seeking a third trial. Joseph Sledge says he was wrongly accused of the murder of two Bladen County women in the late 1970’s. Josephine Davis, 74 and her daughter Aileen, 53, were found dead in their home Labor Day 1976.

At last night's Brunswick County Republican Party meeting, defense attorney Ryan Smithwick announced his intention to challenge incumbent Jon David.

video Last week, WWAY broke the story of Joshua Ward, who was badly beaten in the Bladen county jail. Former jailer Marcus Hubbard told us that kind of violence is nothing new at the Bladen county jail. He said his complaints would often times fall on deaf ears.
