video13 is not considered to be a lucky number. Superstitious or not, 13 is now the losing streak for the UNCW men's basketball team after another tough loss at home against a conference foe. Laney hosted a special ceremony on Wednesday. Michael Jordan's replica jersey now hangs on the wall in Buctown, but the New Hanover Wildcats swept the action on the floor. Plus more!

Laney's Culler signs with NC State for football; North Brunswick's Robinson signs with Clemson

videoLaney linebacker Coult Culler signed a national letter intent on Wednesday to play college football at NC State. Culler is not the only local football headed to the ACC. videoOn Tuesday Laney, West Brunswick and Trask all participated in the state wrestling duals. We had highlights from Buctown. We also featured high school hoops as well. This included Ashley's sweep of Hoggard, Whiteville's win over West Columbus in boys basketball and West Bladen's victory over Pender. In football news Ashley head coach Tom Eanes has been named an assistant coach for the Shrine Bowl in December. Plus more!

Losing skid continues for Seahawks, Heels beat Wolfpack, East Bladen girls lose for first time

It's a new school record. The losing streak for the UNCW men's basketball squad is now 11. Buzz Peterson's squad had the lead in the final minute of play, but the Seahawks fall short against Delaware. The UNC Tar Heel beat NC State in Chapel Hill on Saturday. In high school hoops the East Bladen girls are no longer undefeated. Laney won the conference title in wrestling. Plus more!

WWAY's Monday night sports - January 27

videoLaney High is the place to be in four more nights. Four jerseys will hang from the rafters, including a larger than life Michael Jordan uniform. A handful of high school basketball teams squeezed in games on Monday night prior to Tuesday's expected snow storm. Coach K and the Duke Blue Devils left Pittsburgh with a victory on Monday. The UNCW-Towson men's basketball game won't be played on Wednesday. Plus more!

videoOn Wednesday night the losing skid continued for the UNCW Seahawks and head coach Buzz Peterson. The Seahawks lost a heartbreaker on the road against the College of Charleston. Check out our game action. In high school hoops the East Bladen girls remained undefeated with a come from behind win over West Bladen. We had highlights from the East Bladen boys game too. WWAY's Monday night sports - January 20

videoLess dunks than normal, but WWAY still attended the MLK Jamfest on Monday at Union High School in Sampson County. The event featured seven different basketball games on the same court on a day where students didn't have to attend school. In college men's hoops Cape Fear Community College and NC State both won, but the UNC Tar Heels did not. Plus more!

Seahawks continue slide + more Saturday sports

Duke & North Carolina both appear to be back on track in men's basketball, but that's not the case for Buzz Peterson's UNCW squad. The Seahawks squandered a 13 point halftime lead on Saturday. The losing skid for UNCW is now nine losses in a row. A handful of local high school squads played games on Saturday afternoon. Plus the season is now underway for the Wilmington Sea Dawgs!
