Laney and Hoggard are the only two high school football teams in our neck of the woods with undefeated records. Both teams are 5-0, but only one will be 6-0. The Bucs and Vikings will square off on Friday night at
Hoggard High School.

Two years ago Laney didn't win a varsity football game. This year the Buccaneers sport the best record in the Mideastern 4-A conference at 5-0. Hoggard is 4-0 this season after a down year in 2010. New Hanover and Ashley may end up with better record than last year as well.

The conference schedule is now officially underway for both Laney and New Hanover. The Bucs clearly came to play on Thursday night at Legion Stadium. The Wildcats did not.

Brunswick CC has never defeated Cape Fear CC in volleyball before. The Dolphins came close on Wednesday, but the Sea Devils pulled it out at the Schwartz Center in downtown Wilmington. Both squads are loaded with home grown talent.

Laney only has one loss this season. Could they be the team to beat this year on the local high school soccer scene? Topsail and New Hanover are also having good seasons. In fact the Pirates and Wildcats will play each other on Wednesday at Legion Stadium in Wilmington.

We're learning more tonight about the investigation of a Laney High School assistant principal. Last week we told you a criminal investigation into Robin Lamberty has been closed, but the New Hanover County School Board is still looking into what's happening.

Wilmington has an all-star AAU basketball team. They're a strong squad, but they couldn't keep up with another team from North Carolina on Tuesday, a team that has players committed to both Wake Forest and Virginia Tech.

Even though lights were on inside of Robin Lamberty's home, no one would come to the door. Neighbors seemed curious of our presence so we took our cameras across the street. There we found Lamberty's friend and neighbor, John Swift.
