Thunderstorm catches reporter off guard

One of the hazards of being a TV news reporter is having to do your job in all sorts of conditions. WWAY NewsChannel 3's Cliff Pyron found that out the hard way Tuesday. Cliff and his photographer were caught in a thunderstorm in Shallotte. They managed to avoid the rain, but while focusing on shooting a stand-up, Cliff was caught off guard by something he did not expect.

Pender wildfire grows to 10,000 acres; State of Emergency likely

A wildfire burning in Pender County since the weekend has now grown to about 10,000 acres and is about five miles wide, according to an e-mail from County Manager Rick Benton forwarded to WWAY.
