Navassa residents are up in arms about town officials allowing a developer to build a group home for troubled teens. A man who lives adjacent to the property where the home would be located has hired an attorney to represent him.

The Town of Navassa is still without a permanent police chief. Former chief, Ricky Thorpe, resigned after being arrest for drunk driving in a patrol car, but his voice is still on the department's answering machine.

It has been nearly three weeks since former Navassa Police Chief Ricky Thorpe resigned after being charged with drunk driving.
There are now only two acting police officers left in Navassa, and officials have yet to pick Thorpe's replacement.
