A bill in the State Senate would tighten rules on new landfills. State senators are scrambling to approve a final version of bill 1492 before a landfill moratorium expires August 1. The moratorium has prevented new landfills from being built in the past year. The bill has been delayed because lawmakers cannot come to an agreement on exactly what to include in it.
