New Hanover County Commissioners have removed Commissioner Brian Berger from most of the community boards he sits on. The Commission made the decision at its Agenda Briefing this afternoon. It's still pending an official vote at Monday's County Commission meeting.

First and not surprisingly, Commissioner Brian Berger was late... again. How is it that he can be early to a New Hanover County Community Action Inc. meeting to stake out his ex-girlfriend and break a protective order, but he can't show up on time for the job he was elected to do?

New Hanover County Commissioners voted Monday night in favor of a beach enrichment agreement. Under the agreement, county and federal dollars would cover 82.5 percent of the cost while the state would pay for the other 17.5 percent.

The New Hanover County Commission has a new leader. At a meeting Monday night, commissioners voted unanimously to appoint Ted Davis as the board's new chairman. He replaces Jonathan Barfield, who held the position for the last year.

Police arrested New Hanover County Commissioner Brian Berger after he violated a domestic violence protection order. The order was issued against him in September, requested by his ex-girlfriend, Heather Blaylock.

New Hanover County Commissioners voted to pass an amendment to the county's industrial zoning district Monday night. The ordinance will make new companies file for a special use permit, including Titan if or when it comes to the region. The vote came after a heated exchange between one commissioner and the public.

We've learned that the county spent more than $600 to do a telemarketing blitz to alert people in the area about the town hall. A total of about 15 people showed up, and most of them said they learned about the meeting because of the sign in front of the school. That works out to be about $45 per person.
