A 160-million-dollar bond referendum takes the next step towards the November ballot in New Hanover County. A capital needs study shows New Hanover County Schools are overcrowded and need renovations. This bond would fund those projects, but not all of the commissioners want it to get passed. Full story...

The county's 'credit card' bill so to speak is getting higher and higher with that cost eventually passed onto the taxpayer. Some local leaders feel the spending is out of control. Meanwhile, others feel new spending on the horizon is a cost we all just have to bear. Full story...
