A second family has filed a civil rights complaint against New Hanover County Schools. According to the group NC Fear Free Education, the family of a child enrolled in the school district filed a 98-page complaint yesterday with the Office of Civil Rights division of the US Department of Education. The controversy over New Hanover County Schools' use of seclusion rooms is now the subjection of a federal investigation. The Department of Education's Civil Rights Office is looking into a claim that seclusion rooms are only being used on students with disabilities. Full story...
