This past weekend a group of neighbors in the Monkey Junction area say they could not reach 9-1-1 when trying to report a fire. County Emergency Services Director Warren Lee looked into the situation and says the 9-1-1 operators on duty during the fire did not follow the emergency management guidelines.

There was a big thank you to local the law enforcement Tuesday night. Justice in Motion hosted an appreciation dinner at the Hilton Riverside in downtown Wilmington.

Kids had the chance Tuesday to interact with sheriff's deputies out of uniform. The Safe Summer Program kicked off at Hugh MacRae Park. All week, deputies tag along with 50 kids to various activities.
