Trot Nixon, Fletcher Bates, Parker Southerland, Chris Luther and Eric Faulk were just a few of the New Hanover Wildcats who attended a reunion for the 1993 state championship baseball team. On Monday NC State introduced Wes Moore as the new leader of the pack for women's basketball. Moore replaces Kellie Harper. Former East Bladen Eagle football standout Desmond Bryant purchased a variety of sports equipment for the East Bladen football team. On Friday Hoggard pitcher Bryan Sammons pitched an outstanding game against arch-rival New Hanover. We were there to check out the action. On Friday we featured jiu jitsu world champion Hope Aikens of Wilmington. She's about to take her talents to Dubai. The UNCW baseball team lost on Friday. A teacher who filed a grievance against New Hanover High School Principal Todd Finn will be at a different school in the county starting Wednesday, according to the school district. Beth Brown, who had taught English as a second language classes at New Hanover High School since 2006, was transferred to Castle Hayne Elementary School to teach ESL classes there, said Wayne Bullard, attorney for New Hanover County Schools. A teacher has filed a grievance to the New Hanover County Board of Education against New Hanover High School Principal Todd Finn, saying that she feels like she is working in an environment of "abuse and harassment." Full story...

Wilmington's Cari Blalock came within inches of a first place finish on Saturday night at the NCAA Women's Swimming & Diving Championship in Indianapolis. The UNC junior placed third in the nation in the 200 butterfly. Full story...

Former New Hanover Wildcat Cari Blalock snared an individual title on Friday night in the 400 women's individual medley at the ACC Swimming & Diving Championships. The Hoggard boys basketball team will be in the Mideastern Conference championship game for the fifth year in a row. It'll be the Vikings vs. the New Hanover Wildcats on Friday.
