videoIn 1950 Tanky Meier started coaching the New Hanover High boys tennis team. Meier was a volunteer coach from 1950 to 2011. The 90 year old died on Monday after a short illness. On our sports at 11pm we paid tribute to the first New Hanover grad to have a sports facility named after him. On Tuesday the Wilmington Sharks opened the 2013 season with a road win. Plus more!

Teacher still on job after drug charge

video A New Hanover High School teacher arrested last week on drug charges is still on the job. A school district spokeswoman says the district says it is investigating Catherine Entrocaso after an Alcohol Law Enforcement agents arrested her for possession of schedule II narcotics.

New Hanover High hosts funeral for longtime worker

videoNew Hanover High School hosted the Funeral service of Barbara Ann Brunson Monday. Brunson worked in the cafeteria at the school for 33 years and requested her service be held at the school.

videoSome sports programs at UNCW may be shutting down in the near future if UNCW chancellor Gary Miller follows the recommendations of a UNCW committee. On Wednesday one local high school soccer team lost in the state playoffs. One won. We were there for both.

videoOn Tuesday NC State knocked off UNCW in college baseball in Raleigh. The Seahawks lost 7-2 against the Wolfpack. Tyler Ptacek will not be coming to UNCW to play basketball for Buzz Peterson & the Seahawks. A Seahawk golfer has been named player of the year in the CAA. The former Hoggard Viking spoke to after school students at the Brigade Boys & Girls Club in Wilmington. On Thursday Topsail captured the East Central crown in baseball. videoThe Ashley boys track and field team captured first place in the championship track meet for the Mideastern Conference. It's the fourth year in a row for Ashley earning top honors.
