Cape Fear Community College will host the annual Cape Fear Classic this weekend in downtown Wilmington in men's college basketball action. On Sunday UNCW continued its domination in exhibition games with its 26th consecutive preseason victory following an easy 92-51 decision over NCAA Division III Methodist Sunday at Trask Coliseum. The UNCW volleyball team also won. We had highlights from both of those games on WWAY. The Cape Fear Community College women's soccer team captured the Region X title on Sunday. Quate McKinzie has transferred from Pender High to Harrells Christian Academy. McKinzie is a sophomore who's already on the radar of several college coaches. In Thursday night football Whiteville and Wallace-Rose Hill both won. We have a week 11 preview of Friday games. On a related note some schools will start football games early on Friday. Plus more! The Buffalo Bills released former New Hanover Wildcat Jay Ross on Tuesday. The New Hanover boys soccer team will advance to round two of the state playoffs after a shutout victory on Tuesday against Hoke County. We caught up with East Bladen boys basketball coach Ken Cross on the eve of the first official practice of the season.
