Severe weather rolled into the region early Wednesday afternoon, flooding streets and cars across the Cape Fear. Although the area has been in a serious drought over the last couple of months, the instantaneous rush of water caused by the heavy rain overwhelmed the area.

Gov. Beverly Perdue has agreed to loosen North Carolina's 25-year-old policy of preventing the construction of jetties designed to trap sand and protect coastline homes and other buildings from beach erosion.

It was civics in action at UNCW Thursday night. The 2010 Census results mean the need for legislative redistricting. So the state legislature is changing the lines regarding our representation in the state House and Senate and the US House of Representatives.
