Area Republicans look to stop forced annexation

Road contracts include $6.4 million for Brunswick, New Hanover, Pender

NC Department of Transportation Chief Operating Officer Jim Trogdon announced yesterday that 20 contracts totaling $159 million have been awarded for highway and bridge projects across North Carolina, including one project funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. NCDOT awarded the contracts to the lowest bidders, as required by state law.

IRS offers free help for qualifying taxpayers

Big production, movie's TV premiere could signal good things for Hollywood East

videoWilmington has played host to more than 300 feature films, TV movies and mini series, beginning with "Firestarter" in 1983. Lately Hollywood East has been trying to revive itself, and a couple of locally-shot projects could show a trend in that direction.

Governor's panel hosts meeting on offshore energy tonight
