Pender senior Brianna Pittman holds a state record in volleyball for blocks. Pittman will be taking her volleyball skills to Ohio in order to play for the Dayton Flyers. Pittman signed with Dayton on Thursday. Full story...

Pender High senior Briana Pittman moved into 6th place nationally for career blocks in high school volleyball. Pittman now has 622 career blocks. We were in Burgaw on Tuesday when Pender's state playoff game was halted in order to recognize Pittman's achievement. We also had sports coverage from New Hanover, Hoggard and Laney on Tuesday. The 2014 high school football regular season is underway. On Friday we had coverage from several games. We expected to have a full slate, but the weather interfered with those plans. Some games were completed. Some started, but will need to be resumed. Some games never started. Full story...

The USA Baseball Collegiate National Team concluded the domestic part of their schedule on Tuesday night with a shutout victory over Japan in Wilmington. Both squads are now headed to Amsterdam in order to compete in a collegiate tournament that will feature Team USA, Japan, Chinese Taipei and Netherlands. Plus more! Full story...

Day one of the Fred Lynch Invitational is complete. Six different venues are being used in New Hanover County to showcase this three day high school basketball summer event. Our coverage includes Quate McKinzie's return in a Pender High uniform. Earlier this month McKinzie received his first college scholarship offer from UNCW's Kevin Keatts. Full story...

Wednesday was a full night for boys high school hoops on WWAY. We had tournament coverage from the Four County Conference and the Mideastern Conference. On top of that we started speculating about the replacement for South Columbus football coach Jake Fonvielle. He turned in his resignation on Wednesday morning. Full story...
