The project, located on Atlantic Avenue, will include public restrooms, a playground and pavilion. The new space has been many years in the making and about $4 million from the town and grants for its development. There was a hiccup in the construction of the 3,500 square foot pavilion.

Carolina Beach's Island of Lights Christmas Parade is coming up this Friday at 7:30 p.m. Pleasure Island named Shelly and Michael McGowan, the owners of Michael's Seafood Restaurant, the grandmasters of the parade on Tuesday.
