Rex Gore, the former District Attorney in Bladen, Brunswick and Columbus counties, will head to trial this summer for allegedly signing off on false expense reports for an assistant district attorney while in office.

Former Brunswick County District Attorney Rex Gore and a former assistant turned themselves in today, a day after being indicted. Former Boiling Spring Lakes Police Chief Emmett Ballree also surrendered after he was indicted in an unrelated case. All quickly bonded out of jail.

District Attorney Rex Gore was unwilling to change his initial determination or rule the cause of death as undetermined. Unfortunately, this action on Mr. Gore’s part lead many to conclude that he was not acting in a fair and impartial manner. Regardless of the truth of this assertion, such a perception is damaging to the Office of the District Attorney.

Former State Senator R.C. Soles lives near Tabor City, but not "in" Tabor City. His sprawling estate is outside of the official city limits.
Yet whenever something happens at the house, Tabor City Police always respond, even though it's technically out of their jurisdiction.
