A big check for Riegelwood Fire and Rescue

The Community Foundation of South Eastern North Carolina awarded $42,000 to the Acme-Delco Riegelwood fire station. The money will buy much needed emergency equipment.

videoThe scene off Holly Tree Road is much different than it was a year ago today when the deadly tornado hit. Today you can see there are about half a dozen homes that have been rebuilt and the debris has been cleared out.

Riegelwood: One Year Later

videoIt was one year ago today when a tornado ripped through the Columbus County community of Riegelwood. Eight people died, and homes on Holly Tree Road were demolished. The community was devastated, but love poured in from around the area to help the victims recover. Homes were rebuilt. And to look at Holly Tree Road today you'd never know it was ripped apart only 12 months ago.
