Shallotte Assisted Living has been fined $64,500 by the state for failing to protect residents from mental and physical abuse, and for failing to maintain rules about controlled substances and personal care and supervision.

Shallotte couple charged with stealing tractor-trailer

A Shallotte couple is in jail charged with stealing a tractor-trailer earlier this month. Brunswick County Sheriff's Office detectives arrested James Clifford Long, 52, and Cassandra Lawing Long, 37, Saturday morning for larceny of a motor vehicle.
