Brunswick CC has never defeated Cape Fear CC in volleyball before. The Dolphins came close on Wednesday, but the Sea Devils pulled it out at the Schwartz Center in downtown Wilmington. Both squads are loaded with home grown talent.

Laney only has one loss this season. Could they be the team to beat this year on the local high school soccer scene? Topsail and New Hanover are also having good seasons. In fact the Pirates and Wildcats will play each other on Wednesday at Legion Stadium in Wilmington.

The death of a South Brunswick High School football player has left a community and family in mourning. Marcus Hankins was supposed to graduate in a few weeks. His grandmother, Eva Holmes says she wants her grandson to be remembered as someone who had a big heart and lit up a room with his presence.

South Brunswick High School will not travel to Havelock Friday for Round 3 of the playoffs, yet the school has appealed the decision that ends its season. South Brunswick beat Southern Wayne 42-14 in Round 2 of the state playoffs last Friday.
