Former South Columbus football standout Ethan Farmer is trying to make the most out of his senior season for the North Carolina Tar Heels. Farmer and the Tar Heels are currently undefeated. In fact the Heels will be facing in-state foe East Carolina this weekend. On Wednesday Farmer provided his thoughts on the upcoming ECU-UNC game. Plus we had New Hanover-Topsail soccer and more! We spotted former UNCW men's head basketball coach Jerry Wainwright at a high school football game recently. It appears the coach will lay low during the upcoming basketball season. Of course with all coaches, that's subject to change. Full story...

Friday's 5th Quarter was action packed despite the fact we kept our eye on the weather all night long. The first half of the Hoggard game was clearly a spectator's delight. It was a mixture of dynamic plays combined with a bit of intrigue. We have a lengthy recap of the Hoggard game. Unfortunately, it'll go down as a no contest. The losing skid is over at South Brunswick High School. The Cougars hadn't won a football game since 2012 until they beat Pender by 30 points last week. On Tuesday we showcased two high school soccer games on WWAY. New Hanover edged Laney in the Mideastern Conference opener for both squads. Coastal Christian knocked off South Brunswick.
