Topsail & Trask wrestlers earn individual state titles

Several high school wrestlers from our area advanced to the state tournament in Greensboro, but only three made it to the state finals. The competition is now over. Two of the wrestlers will be coming home as a state champion.

videoMonday marked the first day of tournament play in the Mideastern Conference for high school basketball. We had game highlights from all three first round games. We also made a stop in Bladen County to check out the showdown between East Bladen and West Bladen. UNCW ran into a hot shooting William & Mary squad on Monday night. Buzz Peterson's squad drops to 2-12 in the CAA. Plus more!

Saturday sports recap (college & high school)

The two game winning streak for Buzz Peterson's UNCW basketball squad ended on Saturday. The Seahawks lost by two points on the road against James Madison. Several high school basketball teams played on Saturday. Conference pairings are out for high school hoops. In baseball the UNCW Seahawks fall to 1-1 after losing to Kentucky. Plus more!

videoFriday's Full Court Press featured a victory by Hoggard against West Brunswick in a battle for second place in the Mideastern Conference. We had basketball coverage from Ashley-Laney. Both games in Buctown came down to the wire. We checked out New Hanover-South Brunswick, Trask-Clinton & Pender-Wallace-Rose Hill. We even sneaked in college action too! We showcased UNCW-JMU in women's hoops and UNCW-VMI in college baseball.

UPDATE: Former S. Brunswick football standout Terrell Stanley hurt in crash on icy highway

videoTwo East Carolina football players were involved in a car accident near the Tar River Bridge in Greenville on Wednesday morning. Terrell Stanley is a South Brunswick High graduate. He's a starting defensive end. His injuries are believed to be quite serious.

Scorpions win 1-A/2-A indoor track state title

The North Brunswick High boys indoor track team won the 1-A/2-A state title on Saturday. Two Scorpion athletes won individual titles. South Brunswick's Colin Minor won an individual state title on Friday in the 3-A shot put competition.
