videoSick and injured sea turtles now have a new and improved hospital in Surf City. The new Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Hospital offers more space, an updated filtration system and other amenities the old facility on topsail island did not have room for.

Stranger tries to pick up kids at Surf City bus stop

According to the Surf City police on Wednesday a white female pulled up to a bus stop at Cornel and Bunchberry (Dogwood Lakes subdivision) and asked a five and six year old if they wanted a ride to school.

Surf City motel close to reopening building destroyed by fire

videoPart of a historic motel in Surf City is being rebuilt after a fire earlier this year. Tiffany's motel was a landmark in the town from the 1950s, but in January a fire claimed one of its buildings. Now the rebuilding processes is nearing its end.

Dolphins found dead on NC beaches have disease

Marine biologists say tissue samples from two dolphins that washed ashore in southeastern North Carolina tested positive for a disease that has killed almost 600 dolphins along the East Coast.

More sea turtles released back into wild

Six sea turtles are back home now. Tuesday afternoon, workers with the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center released the animals back into the wild.
