It wasn't even close. The San Antonio Spurs beat Miami in game three of the NBA Finals on Tuesday night. UNC and NC State will be meeting each other in college baseball at least one more time this season. This time it's going to be on the big stage in Omaha. Who knows how long it will last, but it appears Tim Tebow is back in the NFL. Tebow is expected to sign with the New England Patriots on Tuesday. The Fred Lynch Invitational is just days away. The off-season basketball event will feature 45 high school basketball teams over a three day period. South Carolina beat North Carolina in baseball on Sunday. NC State beat Rice. The Wolfpack advances to the College World Series for the first time since 1968. Wilmington's Derek Brunson will not be the crowd favorite on Saturday when the UFC fighter faces Brazil's Ronny Markes in Forteleza, Brazil. Brunson will be in enemy territory. It's anniversary time for Trot Nixon. The former New Hanover High slugger was drafted by the Boston Red Sox twenty years ago. This was a weekend full of season enders. The season is over for the UNCW baseball team. The Seahawks lost to Elon at the NCAA's on Sunday. North Brunswick's baseball season ended this weekend. The Wilmington Sea Dawgs lost their final home game of the season. The Wilmington Hammerheads won on Saturday though. The Hammerheads are about to enter the middle stretch of their season. Plus more! A UNC student from Wilmington died earlier this year after ingesting dust cleaner, the effects of which were likely made worse by an underlying heart condition, according to a report from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. Full story...

On Thursday Hoggard football coaches hosted a NFL Draft get together for former Hoggard Vikings football standout Jonathan Cooper. The UNC Tar Heel offensive guard was selected with the seventh overall pick by the Arizona Cardinals. Wilmington's Jonathan Cooper is now an Arizona Cardinal. The NFC West team selected the former Hoggard football standout with the 7th pick in the first round of Thursday's NFL Draft. Cooper recently completed a stellar career in Chapel Hill with the North Carolina Tar Heels. Full story...
