It took more than two hours for students and staff at UNCW to find out about a shooting near campus Friday. The university has acknowledged that its response to the gunman and a search for him on and around campus was unacceptable. Wilmington Police have released the name of the victim of Friday afternoon's shooting. David Carroll, 42, is at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Carroll is in fair condition. Police have officially charged Reginald Gagnier with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. Full story...

With a state budget finally approved, state universities will face cuts. The North Carolina system was hit hard with $414 million coming out of funding. Over the past three years, budget reductions for UNCW have totaled more than $31 million. This year's budget will see a nearly sixteen percent reduction. Full story...
