State playoffs start today for baseball & softball

Drone used to estimate size of NC coal ash spill

A team of academic researchers equipped with a drone estimate that about 35 million gallons of coal ash and contaminated wastewater spilled into the Dan River earlier this month.

2014 ACC football schedule released

The 2014 Atlantic Coast Conference football schedule released Wednesday is now complete. It features a nationally televised Thursday night game between Duke and North Carolina. NC State football players need to be at their best early. The Wolfpack opens league play with defending national champion Florida State followed by Clemson.

videoThe losing skid continues for Buzz Peterson's UNCW basketball squad. The Seahawks lost to Hofstra on Wednesday. The Ashley girls basketball team has to forfeit four games. Hoggard High graduate Derek Brunson stepped back into the octagon on Wednesday for his third UFC fight. Unfortunately Brunson wasn't able to finish against Yoel Romero after the Wilmington resident won the first two rounds. Plus more!
