videoWeek number one of the high school football season is finally over. Topsail and Trask completed Friday's suspended game on Monday. West Bladen didn't even hit the field until Monday due to a wet field last week. Russell Dove picked up his first win ever as a head coach. Former Hoggard Viking Jonathan Cooper underwent surgery on Monday. Cooper broke his left leg over the weekend in a preseason game. Plus more!

videoThere will be two football jamborees in our region on Friday: the BB&T Jamboree in Wilmington and the Buddy Burney Jamboree in Bladen County. West Bladen head coach Russell Dove gave us the scoop on the Bladen Jamboree. We continued our Two-A-Days, plus we had preview material on Post 10 baseball and Hammerheads soccer on Thursday.

videoWilmington's Cari Blalock finished in 4th place at the US Open Swimming Championships on Thursday. This was the first day of official high school football practice all across the state. The Wilmington Sharks clinched a playoff spot of Thursday. WWAY Full Court Press co-host Brett Blizzard represented North Carolina as a starter in Thursday's all-star basketball game in Washington, D.C. Plus more!

The UNC Tar Heel offensive guard was selected with the seventh overall pick by the Arizona Cardinals. videoThe Hoggard boys basketball team will be in the Mideastern Conference championship game for the fifth year in a row. It'll be the Vikings vs. the New Hanover Wildcats on Friday. In the Waccamaw Conference slowing the game down worked for the West Brunswick boys. They'll be in the finals on Friday. The East Bladen girls knocked off arch-rival West Bladen on Friday.
