It's going to be hard for the West Brunswick boys basketball team to win all of their games this season, but so far that's been the case for the Trojans. This includes a nail biter on Tuesday on the road against New Hanover. We had game action and post game reaction from Brogden Hall plus highlights from Hoggard-Laney and Wilmington Christian-Cape Fear Academy. The Cape Fear Academy Basketball Challenge tipped off Wednesday. It's a three day event that will wrap up on Saturday. Wednesday's action included one of the best dunks of the season. Full story...

The West Brunswick Trojans sit on top of the Mideastern Conference with a 3-0 league mark and an overall record of 10-0. We checked in with the Trojans on Thursday. The North Brunswick boys did not put up much resistance to Hoggard on Tuesday night. Dunks from Xavier Johnson energized the crowd and the Vikings rolled to an easy win. We had our sports cameras in Shallotte too. West Brunswick remains undefeated. Laney lost in overtime against Scotland County. We were there for that one as well. We had our sports cameras out and about on Tuesday night. The Hoggard boys basketball team used a handful of slam dunks to their advantage in the league opener against Topsail. The West Brunswick boys team held off a pesky Laney squad. The game was tied late in regulation until Ty Hill nailed a shot from behind the arc to lead the Trojans to a 69-66 victory. Gray Cheers led West Brunswick with a game high 34 points. Full story...

A report on academic misconduct in regard to athletics at the University of North Carolina will be released on Wednesday. Freddie Jackson stole the show at UNCW's Midnite Madness. We showed his creative slam dunk on our sports on Monday night. Plus we showcased NCHSAA Hall of Fame Day from Chapel Hill where the late Joe Miller and Jack Holley were honored. Full story...

West Brunswick defeated North Brunswick last week in high school football. It was the second win in a row for the Trojans. On Wednesday we recognized West Brunswick with the WWAY Farm Bureau Insurance at Mayfaire Team of the Week award. Full story...

NC State defeated Old Dominion over the weekend in college football to improve to 2-0 on the season. Clearly, one of the difference makers on defense turned out to be a redshirt freshman who didn't even play in the Wolfpack season opener. On Monday on WWAY we showcased Pharoah McKever's college debut. McKever is a graduate of South Columbus High. Plus we have more football news on Mike Sheehan, Nick Napolitano and Jonathan Cooper!
