Buzz Peterson's basketball team is on a bit of a roll. The UNCW Seahawks are now 6-5 on the season after a 19 point win over Campbell. We had four high school basketball games on WWAY on Tuesday. On Tuesday we made the trip to Tabor City to get reaction from South Columbus football coach Jake Fonvielle on an NCHSAA ruling that puts an end to the season for the Stallions. We like to catch up with area athletes when they move onto the ACC. We did that on Sunday in regard to former South Columbus Stallion Pharoah McKever who is now a freshman at NC State. The UNCW women's soccer team earned a spot in the CAA tourney on Sunday. Alabama won the Landfall Tradition. The World Series is tied at 2. Boston won 4-2 in game 4 over St.Louis. Plus more! Thursday was an historic day at Coastal Christian High School. WWAY co-host and World Series champion Trot Nixon threw out the first pitch at the new ballpark. North Brunswick ushered in the Dustin Medlin era in baseball. It ended with a splash. Camp is dismissed for the Hammerheads. It sure was fun! Plus more! Full story...

A Senate bill filed this week would give administrators in private schools the power to allow weapons on school grounds. The administrator and governing body could give written approval to anyone trained and with a permit to carry a gun, teargas or a stun gun. Full story...

A handful of games were postponed on Friday, but we still had more than our fair share of high school basketball on Friday's Full Court Press.
