The Fred Lynch Invitational is just days away. The off-season basketball event will feature 45 high school basketball teams over a three day period. South Carolina beat North Carolina in baseball on Sunday. NC State beat Rice. The Wolfpack advances to the College World Series for the first time since 1968. The Wilmington Hammerheads haven't won a league game on the road all season. On Wednesday the Harrisburg City Islanders kept that statistic alive with a 2-0 victory over the Hammerheads. This was a weekend full of season enders. The season is over for the UNCW baseball team. The Seahawks lost to Elon at the NCAA's on Sunday. North Brunswick's baseball season ended this weekend. The Wilmington Sea Dawgs lost their final home game of the season. The Wilmington Hammerheads won on Saturday though. The Hammerheads are about to enter the middle stretch of their season. Plus more! The Wilmington Sharks won their home opener on Wednesday night at Buck Hardee Field. The Sharks are off to a 2-0 start. The Portland Timbers beat the Wilmington Hammerheads in the US Open Cup. Tony Kanaan won the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday. Kevin Harvick won the Coca-Cola 600. The Wilmington Sea Dawgs dropped another home basketball game. The Dawgs are now out of playoff contention. Former Ashley baseball standout Trevor Kelly earned the save for UNC in Sunday's ACC baseball title game. Five ACC schools will host baseball regional competition next weekend. Full story...

On Tuesday the North Brunswick Scorpions advanced in the state baseball playoffs. Trask advanced in the softball playoffs. Ashley High has a new head basketball coach. On Sunday Brett Blizzard suited up for the Wilmington Sea Dawgs. Blizzard scorched the nets for 31 points to lead the Dawgs to their first home win of the season. Blizzard Athletics also hosted a bone marrow fundraiser on Sunday as well. Plus more! Full story...
