The Wilmington Hammerheads haven't won a soccer game since late May. They were hoping that would change on Friday night in Pennsylvania, but the Harrisburg City Islanders and the Hammerheads ended up with a scoreless draw. The Hammerheads will face Rochester on Saturday night in New York. The Wilmington Sharks did win though. The Sharks beat the Florence RedWolves with the addition of a new player from UNCW. Plus more! It didn't take long for East Columbus High to name a new head football coach. Rocky Lewis, son of legendary Clinton head coach Bob Lewis, will take over the Gators. The Wilmington Sharks defeated the Fayetteville SwampDogs on Wednesday night at Buck Hardee Field. The road game on Thursday for the Sharks is up in the air. The status of Thursday's home soccer game for the Wilmington Hammerheads will be decided on Thursday morning. Full story...

Wilmington Hammerheads FC has a new partnership with the largest youth club in our region. The Hammerheads are excited about the new partnership, but the players appear to be more focused on their next game. Wilmington will host Richmond at Legion Stadium on Saturday night. A free, one-day clinic that's designed to introduce children to football will be held at West Bladen High on Saturday morning. The clinic will feature Richard Howell, the assistant strength and conditioning coach for the Indianapolis Colts. Full story...

The Fred Lynch Invitational tips off on Monday at six different locations in New Hanover County. 50 high school basketball teams will be competing in the three day event. The Ashley boys basketball team won't be competing in the event as the Screaming Eagles are in the middle of a coaching change. The Wilmington Hammerheads FC hosted their Major League Soccer affiliate Toronto FC in a friendly match on Wednesday night at Legion Stadium. Former New Hanover Wildcat soccer standout Ross Tomaselli made his Hammerheads debut in Toronto's 2-1 victory. Full story...
