The holiday rush got off to a bad start for a New Hanover County Sheriff's deputy this morning. The deputy rear-ended another car with his cruiser at the intersection of South 17th Street and College Road around 9 a.m. UPDATED WITH NEWS RELEASE FROM WPD.

Videos posted this weekend on YouTube show a crowd on Front Street in downtown Wilmington Saturday night chanting, "U-S-A!" Suddenly, the crowd disperses. Many of the people in at least one of the videos are coughing and choking. Wilmington Police Spokeswoman Lucy Crockett says an officer used pepper spray to disperse the crowd.
