Former Ashley High School slugger Chance Shepard had a career afternoon at the plate on Saturday in Raleigh for NC State. Former New Hanover track standout Jermaine Jones led his St. Aug squad to a 3rd place finish at the prestigious Penn Relays in front of 49,000 spectators. The UNCW men's golf team has to make up ground in order to win their 4th CAA title in a row on Sunday. Plus more!

Losing skid continues for Seahawks, Heels beat Wolfpack, East Bladen girls lose for first time

It's a new school record. The losing streak for the UNCW men's basketball squad is now 11. Buzz Peterson's squad had the lead in the final minute of play, but the Seahawks fall short against Delaware. The UNC Tar Heel beat NC State in Chapel Hill on Saturday. In high school hoops the East Bladen girls are no longer undefeated. Laney won the conference title in wrestling. Plus more!

videoDue to the winter storm earlier in the week there wasn't any high school basketball action in our region on Friday, but the show must go on, and it did. WWAY aired a special modified version of the Full Press on Friday night. It featured a creative, cinema-style look at WWAY's Full Court Press Watch List, a plays of the season music video for boys and girls basketball plus more!

Seahawks continue slide + more Saturday sports

Duke & North Carolina both appear to be back on track in men's basketball, but that's not the case for Buzz Peterson's UNCW squad. The Seahawks squandered a 13 point halftime lead on Saturday. The losing skid for UNCW is now nine losses in a row. A handful of local high school squads played games on Saturday afternoon. Plus the season is now underway for the Wilmington Sea Dawgs!

videoThe Fred Lynch Invitational is just days away. The off-season basketball event will feature 45 high school basketball teams over a three day period. South Carolina beat North Carolina in baseball on Sunday. NC State beat Rice. The Wolfpack advances to the College World Series for the first time since 1968. The season ends on the road with a loss for the Wilmington Sea Dawgs. Earlier this weekend the Wilmington Hammerheads earned their first road point of the season. Plus more!

videoThis was a weekend full of season enders. The season is over for the UNCW baseball team. The Seahawks lost to Elon at the NCAA's on Sunday. North Brunswick's baseball season ended this weekend. The Wilmington Sea Dawgs lost their final home game of the season. The Wilmington Hammerheads won on Saturday though. The Hammerheads are about to enter the middle stretch of their season. videoTony Kanaan won the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday. Kevin Harvick won the Coca-Cola 600. The Wilmington Sea Dawgs dropped another home basketball game. The Dawgs are now out of playoff contention. Former Ashley baseball standout Trevor Kelly earned the save for UNC in Sunday's ACC baseball title game. Five ACC schools will host baseball regional competition next weekend.

videoOn Sunday Brett Blizzard suited up for the Wilmington Sea Dawgs. Blizzard scorched the nets for 31 points to lead the Dawgs to their first home win of the season. Blizzard Athletics also hosted a bone marrow fundraiser on Sunday as well. Plus more!
