Pat Summitt is stepping aside as Tennessee's women's basketball coach and taking the title of "head coach emeritus". UNCW men's basketball coach Buzz Peterson used to coach with Summitt at Tennessee. "One of the best basketball minds to ever coach the game, Peterson texted WWAY about Summitt. "She was such a tremendous communicator with her players. I was blessed to work beside her and to eat her excellent country cooking."

UNC Wilmington will introduce Cynthia Cooper-Dyke as its women's basketball coach at a Monday afternoon news conference. Cooper-Dyke, a 2010 Women's Basketball Hall of Fame inductee, replaces Ann Hancock, whose contract was not renewed.
