Members of the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office spent National Missing Persons Day handing out free child ID kits and safety information The event was part of the Take 25 program to heighten awareness about children's safety. Officers encouraged parents to take a kit for each child, fill in the child's information and keep it at home in case of emergency. "It only takes a minute to fill out, it'll help you find your kid, in case the worst nightmare of a parent ever happens and your child disappears, it'll track them down," said Stacy Davis of Carolina Beach. President Ronald Reagan proclaimed May 25th National Missing Persons Day in 1983 to serve as an annual reminder and to make child protection a national priority.

Sheriff McMahon

It's nice to see Sheriff McMahon activly involved in these community events. I'm glad that he's not the kind of person to be content to sit behind a desk. I see good things for our county by having McMahon in office.

Indeed.

It is indeed very nice to see Sheriff McMahon actively involved. I do not work for the Sheriff's Department, but I do work another law enforcement agency in our county. From my own experience, I can attest to the fact that this is how McMahon is. He's always been active and visible, and I hope all citizens realize that this is NOT something new. In other words, he's not just doing something like this to give himself points for later when he will actually run for office. This is a man of integrity. This man is honest and hardworking. This man is one I am proud to call Sheriff. Those of you who recall former Sheriff Joe McQueen will find many of his fine qualities in Ed McMahon.

Sheriff McMahon will be a breath of fresh air

having known Ed mcMahon for 10 years or so, I know he loves meeting and talking to people. He is a genuine, sincere man who will lead the Sheriffs dept from the front with integrity. He leads by example and lives his life in honor of the lord. Just a wonderful man.
