The first stop in our Kitchen Cops report; Valino's Restaurant at 2206 Carolina Beach Road. A New Hanover County health inspector reports seven violations. The inspector cites Valino's for food temperature problems. Mac and cheese at 97 degrees; mashed potatoes at 65 degrees; sausage at 90 degrees; hamburger at 110. All well below the 140 hot food holding requirement, well above the 45 degree cold food holding limit. The inspector reports the ice machine needed cleaning and that clean knives were stored between dirty shelves. And the inspector reports counter tops, shelves and other equipment found dirty. 86.5 for Valino's. Next; the General Electric cafeteria at 3901 Castle Hayne Road. nine violation reported here. Food temperature problems. Raw foods stored next to ready to eat foods and the inspector Notes employees needed to wash their hands better when changing job tasks. 83.5 for the GE cafeteria. Now, two re-inspections. China Garden on Independence Boulevard rises from 84.5 to 95. Outback on South College Road keeps it clean the second time around, from 87 to 95.5 We also have seven Kitchen Cops High Performers tonight. First, J. Michaels Philly Deli in the 8200 block of Market Street with a 102. In the same block, the same score for Two Guys Grille. Another Porter's Neck restaurant, Jersey Mike's scored 102 with the health department. Same high marks for Fox and Hound at Mayfaire Town Centre. A Brunswick County health inspector handed Eric's Grille in southport a perfect 100. Big Daddy's on K Avenue in Kure Beach scored 101.5, and Double Happiness on Wrightsville Avenue scored 99.5
