WILMINGTON -- The mother hit by a car in a crosswalk this week died and the driver is now facing charges.
Rachel Matthews died last night at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
Matthews's three-year-old daughter Asani died from her injuries Tuesday.
Police say the mother and daughter were crossing South 16th Street when Megan Teachey hit them with her car.
Investigators say Teachey had a green light and was not speeding.
Police have charged Teachey, however, with two counts of misdemeanor death by motor vehicle because she did not yield to the pedestrians.
