FAYETTEVILLE (AP) -- Authorities in Fayetteville say a police officer was shot and wounded this morning, but his injury appears to be non-life threatening.
The unidentified officer is listed in good condition at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
A statement from the police department says the officer was on patrol when he attempted to check a suspicious vehicle with two people inside.
The vehicle refused to stop and the officer followed. The suspects jumped and ran from the vehicle and the officer followed on foot. The officer had caught up with the suspects behind a house when he was shot.
A second officer arrived on scene and took custody of the shooting. Officers are still looking for the second suspect.
