Mobile unit providing free mammograms

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Just in time, New Hanover Regional Medical Center is rolling out its Coastal Care Van. The mobile cancer screening unit provides mammograms for no charge for women without insurance.

Today it stopped by the Brunswick County Health Department.

Toinette Lanier took advantage of today’s free screening and said, "The mammogram was fine, they have a great girl doing them, she knows what she is doing, and she is good at it."

The mobile unit provides uninsured women with cervical cancer screenings as well.
