Reports show Wright campaign didn't report receiving $119,000

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -- Political committees have reported more than 270 donations to Representative Thomas Wright's campaign that the campaign hasn't unreported.

Those donations totaled more than $119,000.

The committees reported giving nearly $312,000 since 1992, but a review of campaign finance reports by the newspaper showed Wright only reported $183,753 of those contributions.

Another $8,200 donated by the committees were reported by Wright, but the amounts he reported receiving differed from the amounts listed by the committees.

Wright's campaign is under investigation by the State Board of Elections. His attorney isn't commenting on the newspaper story.

The board subpoenaed Wright's bank records this month after former Democratic consultant Joe Sinsheimer accused Wright of breaking elections law by delaying the disclosure of $41,000 in campaign donations.
