Kure Beach is celebrating 60 years as a town. They kicked off a month-long anniversary celebration with a big parade.
Frances Regan has lived in Kure Beach for 13 years, and she loves her town. That’s why she took advantage of the warm weather and came to the celebration parade and festival.
“This has been the most wonderful thing that’s happened in Kure Beach since we’ve been living here,” she said.
Residents of Kure Beach said the area has grown but still has a small-town atmosphere.
“It’s just heaven on earth, a wonderful little town,” Regan said.
A little town reaches a big milestone. Kure Beach incorporated in 1947. The celebration parade involved around 80 organizations.
Four-year old Christopher Johnson had fun watching the floats roll by.
“My favorite part was the motorcycles,” he said.
After the parade, people gathered for a street festival near the Kure Beach Pier.
