Hurricane forecaster predicts 'very active' Atlantic season

READ MORE:

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) -- The hurricane forecasting team at Colorado State University is suggesting that people living on the southeast coast should make plans for a stormy summer.

William Gray's team says the 2007 Atlantic hurricane season should be "very active," with 17 named storms.

Gray's team says that total includes five intense or major hurricanes. The team also says there's a 74 percent probability that a major hurricane will hit the US coast.

Forecasts are based on global oceanic and atmospheric conditions.
