CAROLINA BEACH -- Rescuers say they plan on resuming their search for a missing swimmer in Carolina Beach when they get more information.
The search began at 2:30 Sunday afternoon.
A Carolina Beach resident called 911 and reported seeing a white man in his early twenties wearing a wetsuit go into the water and never come out.
The search started along Alabama Avenue.
The Wrightsville Beach Coast Guard took charge of the search using helicopters, boats and four-by-fours to look for the swimmer.
At this point they think it is possible the swimmer got out of the water at a different point from where he entered.
