Large heroin bust made near UNCW

READ MORE:
WILMINGTON -- New Hanover County Sheriff's deputies made a big drug bust near the UNC Wilmington campus. Narcotics officers arrested Omar Kelly and Stephen Troy at an apartment in the 700 block of McMillan Avenue. Inside deputies say they found $4,000 worth of heroin and stacks of cash. The arrest came after a month-long investigation. Deputies say in the last couple of years heroin has become a big problem in New Hanover County. Capt. B.D. Blackmon said, "Crack cocaine used to lead in drug sales, but in the last couple of years heroin has matched it, and even in some cases, surpassed it." Narcotics agents say surrounding counties don't seem to have as big of a problem with the drug as New Hanover County.

I wonder why New Hanover

I wonder why New Hanover County has become a hive for these drugs, there must be a huge supply coming from someone there. Perhaps the government there needs to consider creating more drug rehabilitation centers and promoting them to the people who need it. A lot of people don’t want to be addicted, even the one who help supply it.

Ratting

I was watching the DEA show on tv where they go and bust different people. The senior DEA dude turned to the camera and said "90% of these people will roll over on somebody to get a walk or a lesser charge." That's something to think about. Most say they would never "squeal" I believe most people would turn in their grandmother if they thought it would help themselves.

The wheels on the bus

GO THUMP, THUMP, THUMP as criminals throw the other criminals under it to get a sentence reduction. It happens in almost every case. It is called "substantial assistance" and it does absolutely nothing but put the freaks back on the street sooner to start peddling their wares again. Until the government does soemthing to eradicate illegal immigration and gangs in our state, it will not get any better. Illegal immigration, drugs and violent crime go hand in hand and law enforcement must tackle the issue as one instead of individually if they want to make any headway in solving the problem. To go along with it, cities and towns must enact and enforce mandatory curfews for anyone under the age of 18. Maybe so many parents wouldn't be getting calls at 2 a.m. to come to the hospital to identify the bodies of their kids because they were out at midnight kickin it wit dey homies down by the corner store.
