WASHINGTON (AP) -- Keeping your hair looking good isn't always easy -- or cheap.
A financial report filed with the Federal Election Commission shows that John Edwards' presidential campaign paid 800 dollars for the Democrat to get two haircuts by a celebrity stylist from Beverly Hills.
The stylist says he and Edwards have been friends for a long time. He says the cut was more expensive than usual because he went to Edwards, rather than having Edwards come into his salon.
The FEC report also lists more than $200 in services from each of two spas -- one in Iowa, the other in New Hampshire.
Edwards has made the war on poverty the central theme of his campaign, but he's been criticized from building a $5.3 million house in North Carolina. And he's been the subject of spoofs making fun of his youthful looks.
