FORT BRAGG (AP) -- It's a very sad day at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
All nine US soldiers killed in a bombing in Iraq yesterday were from the 82nd Airborne Division, based at Fort Bragg.
Major Tom Earnhardt says the nine deaths are the highest number of casualties for the division since the Iraq war began in 2003. In addition to the nine killed, 20 troops from Fort Bragg were injured.
Earnhardt says the soldiers were members of the 5th Squadron, 73rd Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team. The unit deployed to Iraq in August.
