Louisiana-Pacific Corporation announced Tuesday plans to temporarily curtail production at its laminated veneer lumber mill off Highway 421 in Wilmington.
Ninety-one employees will be placed on temporary layoff at the end of this month. The company says the weak housing market is to blame.
About 20 employees will be retained to operate the distribution center and maintain the mill.
A company spokesperson says once business picks up, they hope to bring those laid off employees back to work.
Last month, another local company that makes construction materials shut down. Sixty-three people lost their jobs when National Gypsum closed. The company also cited the slumping construction business as it's reason for closing.
