FORT BRAGG, N.C. (AP) -- The military and family members say three soldiers based at Fort Bragg and two Marines at Camp Lejeune have died in Iraq and Afghanistan in the past week.
Thirty-four-year-old Staff Sergeant Michael Thomas of Seffner, Florida, was killed Friday in Afghanistan. He was assigned to the First Battalion, Seventh Special Forces Group from Fort Bragg.
Twenty-year-old Specialist Daniel Mehringer of Morganton, West Virginia, died in a non-combat incident Friday in Afghanistan. Mehringer was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division's Special Troops Battalion.
Family members say 30-year-old Sergeant Norman Tollett of Elyria, Ohio, died in Iraq.
Twenty-five-year-old Sergeant Peter Woodall of Sarasota, Florida, died Friday in Iraq. He was assigned to the Eighth Engineer Support Battalion with the Second Marine Logistics Group out of Camp Lejeune.
Twenty-five-year-old Corporal Christopher Degiovine of Lone Tree, Colorado, died Thursday in Iraq. He was assigned to the Second Assault Amphibian Battalion, Second Marine Division.
