ASHEVILLE (AP) -- A federal judge has given a North Carolina couple the maximum sentence for child pornography charges.
US District Judge Lacy Thornburg sentenced Troy Alan Witschi to 30 years in prison, while sentencing his wife, Billie Elaine Witschi, to 20 years in prison.
Thornburg also ordered both to register as sex offenders.
Troy Witschi pleaded guilty to two counts of producing and transporting child pornography from Ohio to North Carolina. His wife pleaded guilty to one count of allowing a child to be used for pornography that was transported from Ohio to North Carolina.
The Witschis have lived in Ohio and North Carolina. They were indicted in March 2006 and have been in federal custody for about a year.
