Area seniors looking to stay active got some help from UNCW.

Graduate students studying the care of our elder population organized the event. While job opportunities were few at the fair, seniors had the chance to learn about ways to stay active. Attendees could participate in free aerobics and Nintendo Wii games.

Senior Fair organizer Lauren Segur said, “We have this baby boomer generation who's reaching the adult age now - around 60, and we're going to have the largest adult population that we've ever had. We need to accommodate them and show them what we have and learn ourselves what we need to do for them.”

According to the US Administration on Aging, in 2006 people ages 65 and older account for one out of every eight Americans; by 2030, that number is expected to double.

UNCW help sensiors stay active

This is a nice thing to hear. More thing's like this should go on. We all need to help each other a little bit more. I can gladly admit that I do try to help people, especially older people, that sometimes feel lost in this confusing world. This world would be a lot better if we did help each other more, but thats something most people have already heard. Because you know, most of us one day will be walking in those same shoes. You'll get yours one day, so try to make it a good one.
