Changes are on the way to ease congestion at Wilmington's busiest intersection.

The Department of Transportation plans to add an additional left turn lane off Oleander and onto College in both directions. The double left turn lanes should be paved within about 6 weeks, and will help more cars move through the intersection at each light cycle. The cost to taxpayers: about $300,000.

There are no immediate plans to widen the intersection, so thru traffic, as well as drivers making right hand turns, will be consolidated into the remaining lanes.
